Online Training

RFO offers three different training courses. Each covers a different aspect of steno writing. Courses are all taught remotely, and require different levels of expertise. Weekly assignments are given for each course to progress student’s learning. All training courses are eligible for CEU’s from the NCRA.

Judicial Realtime Training:

• Fundamentals of Realtime Course | 4 weeks - $300 - .04 CEU’s

This course is meant for students who want to learn the fundamentals of realtime theory by resolving their writing conflicts and overcoming word boundaries.

Pre-requisite: Writers with an RPR (or, if not, they must pass instructors evaluation). Thorough knowledge of CAT software is required.

• CART Training Course | 4 weeks - $300 - .04 CEU’s

This is a new and innovative training program that will prepare you for a career as a CART provider.

Pre-requisite: Proficient realtime writers. Thorough knowledge of CAT software is required.

• Caption Master Series II | 4 months - $650 - 2.8 CEU’s

The original Caption Masters Series (CMS) seminar, has helped to train thousands of realtime reporters to become skilled broadcast captioners and CART writers. Today the Caption Masters Series has been adapted into Caption Master Series II, a remote version of the seminar taught over the course of 4 months.

Pre-requisite: Proficient realtime writers. Thorough knowledge of CAT software is required.
